The Children With Black Eyes

We do not know if anyone else has heard of these "beings" but, we thought you, our page visitors, would like to read a little more into more about the children with black eyes....

“They just want to come inside. Across the world, there are a growing
number of accounts of strange, black eyed children. They appear on
doorsteps, at car windows, hotel rooms and even boats. Their skin is
pale, their mannerisms odd and they have one consistent request. They
want to be invited inside. What exactly is this growing phenomena? Are
they demonic entities? Alien hybrids? Perhaps they are some form of
spirit seeking passage to another place. Or, are they simply a modern
urban legend born of the computer age”

And it’s these questions, and many others, that David addresses at length in his book.

What I particularly enjoyed about The Black Eyed Children
is that David not only relates the facts, the history, the rumors, the
legends and theories relative to these kids, but he does so in a highly
entertaining style. There’s nothing worse than reading a book that is
packed with data, but that is as dull as the skies of England on a rainy
October morning. Fortunately, David’s book is anything but dull!

I don’t exaggerate when I say that, in my opinion, this is destined
to become the definitive study on the puzzle, and for several reasons.
Thankfully, and very refreshingly, David details the various scenarios
that have been presented to explain the mystery, but he doesn’t
force-feed any particular one down the throat of his audience. Rather,
he presents the witness testimony, the case-files, and the supporting
data and evidence, and then uses this as a springboard to try and
determine which theory – or, indeed, theories – might be the correct one
when it comes to trying to understand what these “things” are or are
not. And, given the macabre nature of some of them, I’m perfectly
satisfied in calling them “things.”

The book begins with a number of significant witness reports
of encounters that are downright creepy. Yep, I know I used that word –
creepy – earlier, but it really is the best way to describe these
“Damian-meets-E.T.” type kids. A lot of people view the Black Eyed
Children from that torturous “Love and Light” angle and perspective. You
know the one: E.T. is dabbling with our DNA
and creating half-human/half-alien kids that are super-intelligent and
that will play a big, positive role in our future as a species. Well,
David most certainly addresses at length the “hybrid” angle, but, for
me, I still get the deep feeling after reading his words that the
phenomenon is very much self-serving and has its – rather than our – best interests at heart. And that’s probably a black heart, too.

This becomes particularly apparent when David begins to delve into
highly alternative areas relative to not just the far more conventional
“Nuts and Bolts”-UFO angle, but such realms as demonology; life after
death and malevolent, tortured ghosts; Middle Eastern Djinn; definitive Tricksters; and a whole host of other entities that may not exactly be our best buddies in the slightest.

And, I’m pleased to say, David – always balanced and unbiased –
doesn’t shy away from addressing the possibility that the whole thing is
down to nothing stranger than modern-day urban legend. But, as he makes
clear, even if some cases fall into that category, there is
still a larger and wider mystery to be resolved. Like any aspect of
Forteana, yes there are legends, hoaxes and friend-of-a-friend tales.
But, strip them away and there’s still a phenomenon – and that applies
to the Black Eyed Children, too.

There’s also an excellent chapter on the way in which certain medical
conditions can affect the colors of the human eye – thus demonstrating
that David leaves no stone unturned in his quest for the truth.

For me, the most fascinating sections of the book were those that
highlighted the undeniable parallels between these eerie kids and the
Men in Black, vampires and a host of other historical and horrific
things that seem to take so much pleasure in tormenting us with their
own, unique brands of evil mischief.

That
the BEC reportedly, and specifically, have to be invited into the home
of the person in their sights does, of course, evoke imagery of the
classic blood-sucker of Eastern Europe and elsewhere. And, with regard to the Men in Black,
David notes, intriguingly: “Perhaps the classic image of the MIB became
too tame for some situations and a higher force created the black eyed
children in order to grab the attention of a jaded, overwhelmed public
that is tired of old stereotypes.”

If your main area of interest when it comes to the paranormal is UFOs
and aliens, then you won’t want to miss this book. But, by delving deep
into the hearts of a host of other supernatural conundrums too, the
book will also satisfy, intrigue and inform the student of demonology,
mythology, ghosts and specters, succubi, and the age-old phenomenon of
changelings, which is so prevalent in fairy-lore.

In conclusion, then, David Weatherly’s The Black Eyed Children
is a fascinating, insightful and remarkable piece of work on a subject
that has been crying out for the definitive study - and, now, we have
that definitive study. If you thought you knew all there was to learn
about these strange characters, you’re about to get a big wake-up call!
Maybe a literal wake-up call, too, if “they” come knocking on your door
on some dark, chilled night as the witching-hour looms…

Ancient Astrology Calendar Un-Earthed

Good Heavens! Oldest-Known Astrologer's Board Discovered

LiveScience.comBy Owen Jarus | LiveScience.com

A research team has discovered what may be the oldest astrologer's board, engraved with zodiac signs and used to determine a person's horoscope.

Dating back more than 2,000 years, the board was discovered in Croatia, in a cave overlooking the Adriatic Sea. The surviving portion of the board consists of 30 ivory fragments engraved with signs of the zodiac. Researchers spent years digging them up and putting them back together. Inscribed in a Greco-Roman style, they include images of Cancer, Gemini and Pisces.

The board fragments were discovered next to a phallic-shaped stalagmite amid thousands of pieces of ancient Hellenistic (Greek style) drinking vessels.

An ancient astrologer, trying to determine a person's horoscope, could have used the board to show the position of the planets, sun and moon at the time the person was born.

"What he would show the client would be where each planet is, where the sun is, where the moon is and what are the points on the zodiac that were rising and setting on the horizon at the moment of birth," said Alexander Jones, a professor at the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World at New York University. [See Photos of Astrologer's Board]

"This is probably older than any other known example," Jones said. "It's also older than any of the written-down horoscopes that we have from the Greco-Roman world," he said, adding, "we have a lot of horoscopes that are written down as a kind of document on papyrus or on a wall but none of them as old as this."

Jones and StašoForenbaher, a researcher with the Institute for Anthropological Research in Zagreb, reported the discovery in the most recent edition of the Journal for the History of Astronomy.

A 'King Tut experience'

In 1999, the team was digging near the entrance of the Croatian cave, a site well known to archaeologists and people at the nearby hamlet of Nakovana who simply called it "Spila," which means "the cave," Forenbaher told LiveScience.

But what nobody knew at the time was that the cave had a section that had been sealed off more than 2,000 years ago. Forenbaher's girlfriend (now his wife) burrowed through the debris, discovering a wide low passageway that continued in the dark for nearly 33 feet (10 meters). Forenbaher described going through the passageway as "the unique King Tut experience, coming to a place where nobody has been for a couple of thousand years."

Stepping into the cavern "there was a very thin limestone crust on the surface that was cracking under your feet when you went in, which meant that nobody walked there in a very, very, long time," Forenbaher said.

The team would later determine that it had been sealed off in the first century B.C., possibly in response to a military campaign waged against the local people by the Romans.

When the archaeologists investigated they found the phallic-shaped stalagmite, numerous drinking vessels that had been deposited over hundreds of years, and something else. "In the course of that excavation these very tiny bits and pieces of ivory came up," said Forenbaher, "we didn’t even realize what we had at the time."

The team went to work. "What followed was years of putting them together, finding more bits and pieces, and figuring out what they were," Forenbaher said. In the end they found themselves staring at the remains of the oldest-known astrologer's board.

How did the board wind up in the cave?

Archaeologists are not certain how the board came to the cave or where it was originally made. Astrology originated in Babylon far back in antiquity, with the Babylonians developing their own form of horoscopes around 2,400 years ago.

Then around 2,100 years ago, astrology spread to the eastern Mediterranean, becoming popular in Egypt, which at the time was under the control of a dynasty of Greek kings.

"It gets modified very much into what we think of as the Greek style of astrology, which is essentially the modern style of astrology," Jones said. "The Greek style is the foundation of astrology that goes through the Middle Ages and into modern Europe, modern India (and) so on."

Radiocarbon dating shows that the ivory used to create the zodiac images dates back around 2,200 years ago, shortly before the appearance of this new form of astrology.

Researchers are not certain where the board was made although Egypt is a possibility. The ivory itself likely came from an elephant that was killed or otherwise died around that time, they suspect. Being a valuable item, the ivory would have been stored for several decades, or even a century, before it was used to construct the zodiac. These signs would then have been attached to a flat (possibly wooden) surface to create the board, which may have included other elements that didn't survive.

At some point it may have been put on a ship heading through the Adriatic Sea, an important route for commerce that the cave overlooks. The people who lived in Croatia at the time were called Illyrians. Although ancient writers tended to have a low opinion of them, archaeological evidence suggests that they interacted with nearby Greek colonies and were very much a part of the Mediterranean world.

It's possible that an astrologer from one of the Greek colonies came to the cave to give a prediction. A consultation held in the flickering light of the cavern would have been a powerful experience, although perhaps not very convenient for the astrologer.

"It doesn't sound like a very practical place for doing the homework for the horoscope like calculating planetary positions," Jones said. [Gallery: Victorian-Era Illustrations of the Heavens]

Another possibility is that the Illyrians traded for or stole the astrology board from someone, not fully understanding what it was used for. The board, along with the drinking vessels, would then have been placed as an offering to a deity worshipped in the cave whose identity is unknown.

"There is definitely a possibility that this astrologer's board showed up as an offering together with other special things that were either bought or plundered from a passing ship," Forenbaher said. He pointed out that the drinking vessels found in the cave were carefully chosen. They were foreign-made, and only a few examples of cruder amphora storage vessels were found with them.

"It almost seems that somebody was bringing out wine there, pouring it and then tossing the amphora away because they [the amphora] were not good enough for the gods, they were not good enough to be deposited in the sanctuary," Forenbaher said.

The phallic-shaped stalagmite, which may have grown on the spot naturally, appears to have been a center for these offerings and for rituals performed in the cavern. Forenbaher cautioned that all stalagmites look phallic to some degree and it's difficult to determine what meaning it had to the people in the cave. "It certainly meant something important," he said.

"This is a place where things that were valued locally, were deposited to some kind of supernatural power, to some transcendental entity or whatever [it was]."
Russias Loch Ness Monster...

Brosno dragon
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The
Brosno Dragon, also known as Brosnya, is the name given to a lake
monster which is said to inhabit Lake Brosno, near Andreapol in West
Russia. It is described as resembling a dragon or dinosaur, and is the
subject of a number of regional legends, some which are said to date
back to the 13th century. [1]

.......

Legends
Rumors
of a strange, giant creature living in Lake Brosno have existed for
several centuries. One legend says that the lake monster scared to death
the Tatar-Mongol army that headed for Novgorod in the 13th century.
Batu Khan stopped the troops on the sides of Lake Brosno to rest. Horses
were allowed to drink water from the lake. However, when the horses
ventured down to the lake, a huge roaring creature emerged from the
water and started devouring horses and soldiers. The Batu-khan troops
were so terrified that they turned back, and Novgorod was saved. Old
legends describe an "enormous mouth" devouring fishermen. Chronicles
mention a "sand mountain" that appeared on the lake surface from time to
time. According to another legend, some Varangians wanted to hide
stolen treasure in the lake. When they approached the small island, a
dragon came to the surface from the lake and swallowed the island up.

It
was rumored in the 18th and 19th centuries that the giant creature
emerged on the lake surface in the evening, but immediately submerged
when people approached. It is said that during World War II the beast
swallowed up a German airplane. Today, there are lots of witnesses who
say they chanced to see Brosnya walking in the water. Locals say that it
turns boats upside-down and has to do with disappearance of people

Theories
Many
people treat the existence of Brosnya skeptically and still say that
the creature may be a mutant beaver or a giant pike of 100-150 years.
Others conjecture that groups of wild boars and elks cross the lake from
time to time.
[emphasis added, and only the introduction to the various explanations-DD]

References
1.^ Vorotyntseva, Sofya (2004-01-20) Loch Ness Monster Has a Relative in Russian Province, Pravda

Rather
than a mutant beaver explanation, I have heard that wild boars of
unusually large size swimming in the water, as well as the typical
swimming elk (moose) account for most modern sightings at this lake.
These are the lake monster sightings that are like the ones from Loch
Ness and elsewhere and cause people to think of Plesiosaurs and
Brontosaurs. But they are not the origin of the large swallowing dragon.

To
some extent, all bodies of water are said to suck down and drown people
and animals and this is ordinarily understood as a sort of poetic
mythological personification of the waters themselves. In this case,
however, it becomes quite clear that what people were originally
describing was a very large, very old and very evil-tempered Pike and
pride in the notoriety of that pike (possibly the family of pikes even)
made the locals brag and exaggerate their stotries of their monstrous
pike until it could swallow up enemy warships sent against them, or Nazi
planes. But the shape of the monstrously large fish on the old postcard
is definietly a pike's head. Some reports of Lake Monsters from
Scandinavia are also obviously such pikes, and a series of such reports
occur across Canada but most prominently in the Mackenzie River system
and around the Great Lakes. Some of them have been photographed and you
can still always tell from the shape of the head and the conformation of
the fins.

Best Wishes, Dale D.
Pike-also often at the bottom of "Out-of-Place-Crocodile" Reports.

since the hospital banned smoking June 1, but no one knows what the
animal is, so they’ve named it Prince Chupa, after chupacabra — the
legendary cryptid rumored to exist in parts of the Americas and suck the
blood of livestock.

“It’s a kangaroo, dog, rat mixed,” X-ray technician Joe Livermore
said. “It’s got a rat tail and a head like a deer. I don’t know what it
is.”

People started taking cell phone pictures of the animal and showing them around, but no one knows what it is.

“So we decided to trap it,” Livermore said.

On Thursday, Livermore lured the animal with chicken and leftover Chinese food and caged it briefly to get a closer look.

“I didn’t know what to do with him,” Livermore said. “I didn’t know what it was. People said it was a fox, a deer, a dog.”

After some close-ups, the animal was released. Those pictures haven’t led to a confirmation of species yet, either.

Those who’ve been around Prince Chupa said it’s shy, not aggressive and suspect there might be more than one.

The Legend of Morrow Road

Legend
 of Morrow Road
 by magiccrafter

Morrow Road in Clay Township,
Michigan has been known for it's horrifying legend and hauntings for over a
 century.

In 1893, during a snowstorm, a woman went out in the middle of the night searching
for her toddler that had somehow wandered from the house. She was unable to
find it and froze to death. It is said that the bodies were never found. But
it is a fact that their spirits still haunt the road to this day. The area is
also said to be ancient burial ground of the Indians.

The legend is if you drive out there at midnight, park on the old bridge, and
honk three times, the woman will appear to see if you have her baby. She is
described as wearing a bloody white gown and has a very distorted face with
no eyes. If you try to flee from her, she will chase your car down the road
 and may even kill you.

Other eyewitness accounts have reported seeing glowing orbs in the woods, and
the sounds of a crying infant near the bridge.

Skeptical of this whole legend, I got together with some friends and we drove
out there one night in 1992. A night I will never forget. It was around 12:30
and pitch black. We got to the bridge and the hair on the back of my neck was
standing. I felt like something was there watching us from the woods. We shut
off the car and sat there for a minute. At the time, this was just a small one-lane
dirt road with woods on both sides. There were no houses around. My friend honked
the horn a few times and right away we heard the baby crying. It was coming
from underneath the bridge. We got out of the car and I leaned over the guard
rail. I could hear it crying, but couldn't see anything. Somewhere out of the
darkness we heard a woman shout, "Where is my baby!!!"

That was it for me. I got
in the car and my friends stayed out there goofing around. I saw a bright light
come out of the woods and it came down the road toward the car. As it got closer,
it winked out. My friends were getting spooked, so they got back in the car.
They said they heard a woman screaming. We started the car, and before we could
even take off, a silhouette of a woman came running out of the woods up to the
car. My blood ran cold and I watched her fly right up to the driver's side window,
I couldn't see her face, but saw her long hair.

My friend stepped on it
and she pounded on the window as we sped off. We were going about 60 mph and
one of my friends screamed. I looked back and the woman was right there looking
through the back window. It seemed like forever, but we finally got off the
road and the woman was gone by then. I will never go down that road again.

The road is now paved and
the bridge was torn down. Houses are even being built. They are making a motion
picture based on the legend. http://www.morrowroad.com
